Safeguarding Lives, Bridging Habitats at Pench
Client:

Pench Tiger Reserve near Nagpur is a wildlife sanctuary renowned for its picturesque landscapes and diverse biodiversity. Home to majestic tigers, leopards, and rich flora, it offers an unforgettable experience of nature and tranquility, attracting wildlife enthusiasts and travelers from across the globe.

Business Objective:

To prevent recurring incidents of human-wildlife conflict, particularly tiger attacks near villages. The forest department wanted a real-time, movable surveillance solution that could adapt to changing hotspots and alert authorities promptly—while managing massive data volumes securely and cost-effectively.

Solution:

Valiance deployed Wildlife Eye in a mobile format, enabling flexible relocation across conflict-prone zones. The system continuously monitored wildlife movement and delivered real-time alerts—both physical and digital—when animals approached human settlements.

To manage and process over 1 TB of surveillance data per day, the solution was architected on Google Cloud Infrastructure, leveraging:

  • Google Cloud Storage: Used both Standard and Deep Archive tiers to store high-volume video feeds efficiently and optimize costs.
  • Google Security Command Center & VPC: Ensured robust data protection, compliance, and access controls to safeguard sensitive forest surveillance data.

This architecture allowed Wildlife Eye to perform image recognition, threat detection, and alert dissemination—all in under 3 seconds.

Outcome:
  • Zero human-animal conflict incidents post-deployment in all covered zones.
  • Six active Wildlife Eye units have been deployed across key hotspots in Pench.
  • Instant alerts to officials via a dedicated mobile app, enabling preventive action and fostering community safety.
  • Reduced operational costs via smart data lifecycle management using Deep Archive tiers.
  • Google Cloud’s secure and scalable infrastructure ensured high uptime, data integrity, and real-time responsiveness across terrains.

“Wildlife Eye has significantly reduced human-animal conflicts in Pench. With six systems installed, it provides real-time updates and enables timely action and community cooperation.”
— Sandeep D. Bharti, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Pench Tiger Reserve
